About Us

Imagine a baby zebra: curious, a little wobbly, and full of unique stripes. That's how we see young creativity, precious, one-of-a-kind, and worth protecting. Here, we give those stripes a canvas. The artwork you see isn't just made by kids; it's made by future artists, designers, and dreamers whose voices deserve to be heard worldwide. Baby Zebra Art Gallery is more than a gallery, it's a movement.
We partner with schools and community groups in Sierra Leone host competitions in order to nurture artistic talent from the ground up. The winners of these competitions will receive a scholarship, and all artworks will be displayed in our gallery to be sold, and all the funds we recieve, we will donate to the schools and community groups to help them continue to host competitions and nurture artistic talent from the ground up. Every painting, drawing, and sketch is a celebration of culture, resilience, and youthful imagination.

Our Mission

关于图三
We aim to, through Baby Zebra, make a small contribution to poverty reduction in Africa and help more children return to school. According to UNESCO's 2024 Global Education Monitoring Report, approximately 244-251 million children and adolescents (aged 6-18) worldwide, are out of school, with over half, concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa. Poverty is the primary cause of school non-attendance among African children. For many families, even the yearly cost of education is impossible to afford, forcing children into labor or leaving them without structured learning opportunities. Education is not just a pathway out of poverty, but also a foundation for dignity, independence, and future opportunities.
According to the 2023 report by the United Nations and Education Cannot Wait (ECW), demand for education aid continues to rise, but donor funding growth remains sluggish. ECW's funding targets are often met at only 40-60%, forcing many projects to be scaled back or delayed. The average total cost per child to complete basic education (6-9 years) is approximately $700-2,500 (full cycle), equivalent to about $100-300 per year.
African children demonstrate remarkable talent in artistic fields like music and painting, shaped by diverse cultural, social, and environmental factors that give their work distinctive characteristics and potential. Their paintings do not pursue realism but express meaning through abstract combinations of symbols, totems, and colors. They use natural materials like clay, charcoal, and plant pigments for painting, unleashing boundless creativity and imagination. Their expressions are often closely tied to oral traditions, using images to tell stories and depict their futures.
Baby Zebra aims to showcase African children's paintings to the world, helping their artwork find appreciative owners. We hope to exchange their artworks for school supplies like backpacks, stationery, and paintbrushes or even the chance to continue their education.

In many parts of Africa, art is seen as an "extra," not an essential. Limited funding, lack of materials, and scarce creative spaces mean thousands of talented children never get the chance to explore their artistic potential. Baby Zebra changes that. We provide resources, platforms, and opportunities and when you purchase art here, 100% of the profit goes right back into funding art supplies, workshops, and scholarships for young artists.
In Sierra Leone, art education is rarely part of a child's learning journey. Many schools have no trained art teachers, no dedicated creative spaces, and no funding for materials (Africa Press, 2023). Without these basics, most students never get the chance to explore their creativity through structured lessons.
For children living in poverty, a reality for up to 70% of Sierra Leone's youth (Awoko Newspaper, 2024), school may be their only gateway to art. Yet without resources, even that opportunity disappears. Baby Zebra Art Gallery bridges that gap by connecting young African artists to the global stage and giving art lovers the chance to own something with a purpose. Every purchase is more than a transaction, it's an investment in creativity, education, and hope. Own the art. Change the future.
